A letter From the Red Cross to David Urquhart
The letter testifies to James Urquhart's last actions before his death at Loos. His body was never recovered and my Great Grandmother would not accept her son's death for a long time.
The body of James Lawrence URQUHART was never
found but note that, although the witness details all refer to the
death of James Lawrence URQUHART, the letter's heading refers
to T. F. URQUHART. For his mother - Helen URQUHART (nee
MARSHALL) this must have been unbearable and it is no wonder that
she found it difficult to come to terms with his death.
