Auntie Nancie Letters No 4
London House
35B Fore street
Lostwithiel
Cornwall
Dear David,
Sheila has sent me the papers about the Family Tree you are drawing up
– there must be hundreds of us by now.
I am sorry I have been so long in sending the names and dates but here they are.
I have been writing down anything I can remember Grandma telling me about the Urquhart side.
I do remember Mother telling me about Grannie Urquhart, who was Grandpa’s Mother, Charlotte Lawrence.
Mother told me that Grannie was confined to bed as she had broken her hip and in those days they just didn’t bother to set old people’s legs, they just put the leg in a sack of sand -! So there she lay until she died – Mother said she was a sweet old lady and they all used her room as a ‘haven’ when their Mother was on the ‘rampage’ which was always dreaded by the younger members of the family.
Rest of sheet blank
Auntie Nancie Letters No 4
Uncle David has four letters from Auntie Nancie which, although apparently incomplete, contain a lot of interesting family history memories. They are undated, but probably written in the 1980s. Written on pages torn from reporter – style notebook, the letters were out of order. I have tried to link them together but can’t guarantee total accuracy. The punctuation and spelling is mostly Auntie Nancie’s. She uses exclamation marks nearly as much as I do!!!
This is letter No 4
