To D.U.E. Miller on his Retirement

A special occasion poem by Sheila MILLER

To D.U.E. Miller on his Retirement

David Urquhart Esplin Miller has retired today.
Half the local population gladly shout hooray!
Having done his last extraction,
David’s going out of action.
He has laid his burden down
And made himself a golden crown.
Now he’s finished all his drilling,
Will life ever be so thrilling?

Jovially he’s helped the masses
Filling them with laughing gasses.
Lords and Ladies, low-down bums,
He has dealt with all their gums.
He’s advised “Keep off the sugar.”
What a miserable old b-----!
He’s the one that won the race
Setting everyone a brace.

Now he’s used up all his ointment,
And has made his last appointment.
On Grimsby he’s left his impression
But now he’s done his final session.
No patients waiting to be done,
He’s off with Mary for some fun,
And on to startling new adventures
Not concerned with fitting dentures.

Now dental life has reached expirement
We wish you well in your retirement!
