Richard joined STS Garonne as a Cadet on the 16 Sep 1963. This was his first ship. he left on the 1st Dec 1963.

STS Garonne is shown here in the livery of Trident tankers but at the time of Richard's first trip she was owned and operated by P&O Orient Lines
